A New Rhythm for Spring Break
We’re creatures of habit. We order from the same restaurants, plan our yearly trips to Disney World, and sit in the same seats for our Phillies season tickets. Football? We take that very seriously! In our house-divided reality, my husband and I can't even watch the Bills and the Dolphins in the same room. We are loyal to what we know and love—that’s simply how we operate.
So, when Spring Break planning led us to the West Coast, it felt unexpected. Almost like we were stepping outside of our own rhythm. Instead of our usual “trip around the world” at Epcot, we were heading to Southern California. And yes—we still made time for Disney. Of course we did. But this trip felt different from the start.
Arrival at Regent Santa Monica Beach
From the moment we arrived at Regent Santa Monica Beach, there was a sense that everything had already been considered. Not in an overly formal way, but in a way that felt intuitive—like the stay had been designed to remove friction before you even noticed it existed.

Our children were warmly welcomed and immediately at ease. At check-in, they each received a small keepsake—simple, thoughtful gestures that set the tone without needing explanation.
But what stood out most wasn’t a single moment. It was the consistency of anticipation. Before we even thought to ask, the concierge had already confirmed timing for an upcoming tour pickup. No back-and-forth. No follow-up emails. It was simply handled. That rhythm carried through the entire stay.
A Room Designed for Relaxation
Our room reflected the same philosophy. Soft neutral tones, carefully layered textures, blackout curtains paired with sheer light-filtering drapery, and a quiet that you only fully appreciate after you’ve experienced it. I slept better there than I have in years. I’ve been thinking about that bed ever since.
Embracing the Ocean Views
Outside the room, the property opens directly into uninterrupted ocean views and a sense of calm that changes your pace almost instantly. The firepit terrace overlooking the Pacific became our favorite in-between space—somewhere to unwind with a glass of wine in hand after a full day exploring the city.

At the pool, overlooking the Santa Monica Pier, everything felt balanced. Lively, but never loud. Present, but never intrusive. Service existed in the background in a way that never interrupted the moment. Nothing ever felt like it required effort.
Our youngest spent hours in the water while my husband and I, for the first time in a long time, actually sat still with a book and a cocktail. More than once, things appeared before we even realized we might want them. That kind of attentiveness becomes its own rhythm over time.

Dining Delights
Later that day, my husband and son headed into downtown Los Angeles for a Kings game at Crypto.com Arena, taking the train directly from Santa Monica—easy, direct, and surprisingly stress-free. While they were out, my daughters and I dined at Orla by Michael Mina, which ended up being one of the standout meals of the trip. Zucchini fritters, lobster spaghetti, warm pita, and hummus—every dish felt intentional without being overworked. Even our six-year-old was fully on board.

We ended the evening back at the hotel with room service dessert delivered exactly at the promised time. Another small detail that quietly reinforced the same theme—everything simply worked.
On another evening, we ventured just beyond Santa Monica to Playa Provisions in Playa del Rey. It was an easy ride out, a relaxed dinner, and the kind of evening that didn’t require planning energy. It simply fit into the flow of the trip.
Back at the hotel, the consistency of care never faded. Turndown service arrived while we were out. A s’mores kit appeared by the firepit without request. Small gestures layered so seamlessly throughout the stay that they almost felt invisible—until you realized how rare that level of ease actually is.

Exploring Santa Monica and Beyond
And then there’s the location itself. Steps from the Santa Monica Pier, the hotel places you directly within one of Los Angeles’ most iconic coastal settings. We rode the Ferris wheel, walked the pier at sunset, and watched the ocean shift from gold to deep blue in a way that felt almost cinematic.
We also spent two days at Disneyland, about 45 minutes away, where our youngest started her morning at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique—completely immersed in the experience. The days blended easily between attractions, dining, and the kind of excitement only Disney can create, before spending the evenings watching Fantasmic from River Belle Terrace as the park shifted into its nighttime glow.

Beyond Disney, we explored Los Angeles fully—Universal Studios VIP tour, Warner Bros. Studio Tour, Rodeo Drive, Sunset Strip, the Hollywood Sign, and the Walk of Fame. A full itinerary, but never one that felt overwhelming. The difference was the ease of returning each day, where everything slowed and fell back into balance.
A Memorable Stay
Regent Santa Monica Beach became the grounding point of the entire journey—not just where we stayed, but what made everything else feel effortless.
So would we return? Without hesitation, yes. Some stays you remember for where you went. This is one you remember for how effortlessly everything came together.
